V/A - Laguna Beach Happening LP (AKA "100% Unknown Fibers: Odd Lots")

$28.00

From the mYsTeRiOuS "Coq Au Vinyl" label out of France, the same folks you brought you the Gee Gee Decorator and Pat Metheny's "Zero Tolerance For Silence" LP reissue.. This LP is a live document of the Laguna Beach Happening from December 25, 1970.. a concert billed as a "West Coast Woodstock" and created by the Brotherhood of Eternal Love AKA the "Hippie Mafia".. Best known as the international LSD trafficking ring who rubbed shoulders with Timothy Leary, Jimi Hendrix and (rumor has it) members of the Manson Family. These are the guys who brought the world "Orange Sunshine" acid (check the book and documentary of the same name!) The sounds on this record were previously released on an obscenely rare 70's bootleg called "100% Unknown Fibers: Odd Lots" that appeared a few years after the concert in 1970. Most of the bands on here are psych/blues rock/acid folk unknowns but apparently Buddy Miles and Bryan MacLean of Love are on this thing? Regardless: crazy audience recording of (at least parts of) the fest with several amazing tunes and plenty of between band banter and rants from local burnouts, festival "security" and even a Black Panther or two. Yes, that is an actual piece of blotter paper on the front cover. Totally weird record. Exactly what I'd expect from Coq Au Vinyl. 300 pressed, hand stamped on the back cover. I have a decent size stack of these but no idea if/when more are coming....
