Velvet Underground "Sunday's Clown" LP

$30.00

"Late summer 1966: the Exploding Plastic Inevitable travels up to Provincetown, MA, to bring their revolutionary multimedia extravaganza to the Chrysler Art Museum. “IT’S SOUND, IT’S LIGHTS, IT’S AN EXPLOSION, IT’S SUPER-POP, IT’S DOUBLE GROOVY,” proclaims one of the advertisements.

Until now, the only evidence of these performances has been visual — the famous photo of the Velvet Underground and Nico on the back of the band’s debut LP was taken during this EPI run. But fortunately, a journalist in attendance hit “record” on her tape machine as the VU played. The recentl surfaced results give us a blurry but vital snapshot of the Velvets and Nico at a mostly undocumented stage of their development. Double groovy, indeed."

Extras: “Heroin” & “Venus in Furs”, Lou-less in Chicago June ‘66; and “Feeling Alone” circa ‘68 demo.

** Please note: this is a 60s era audience recording and decidedly not hi-fi and par for the course for this type of artifact **
